Should I use Wi-Fi 5 or 6?

Wi-Fi 5 enjoyed a long run as the gold standard, but it’s old news now. Wi-Fi 6 is here, it’s widely supported, and you should probably be using it. Of course, you’ll want to go with Wi-Fi 6E for the fastest speeds possible, and the ever-looming Wi-Fi 7 is coming soon.

What is the difference between WiFi 5 and WiFi 6?

While WiFi 6 is generally designed to make WiFi more efficient, it does allow for faster connections. While WiFi 5 had a maximum theoretical data rate of 3.5 Gbps, WiFi 6 has a theoretical maximum of 9.6 Gbps. Using both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless frequency bands, WiFi 6 is backwards compatible with both WiFi 5 and WiFi 4 devices.

What is Wi-Fi 6?

Wifi 6 is quite an improvement to the Wi-Fi technology in general. Its principal design is to improve wireless connectivity in highly dense environments such as malls, dense residential areas, corporate offices, buildings, etc. Released in 2019, IEEE 802.11ax uses the standard 2.4Ghz and 5GHz bands, with the 6GHz band to be introduced in Wi-Fi 6e.
